Isa. 28:16 Did Paul manipulatively employ Septuagint Greek full well knowing of the contrary Hebrew?

Video Description

Paul uses an incorrect Greek translation of 247 BC for Isaiah 28:16 in Romans 9:33 and 10:11. However, in the same verse in Romans 9:33 he merges it with Isaiah 8:14 in Hebrew. Paul obviously does so for strategic reasons. For he ignores the Greek Septuagint on Isaiah 8:14 only because it is directly the opposite of the Hebrew, which if the Greek were followed would deny Jesus is prophetically the "cornerstone." At 12:12 of the video is an image ofthe Septuagint of 257BC, while Alexandrinus from 300s AD at 11:50 also has the same -- but has NOT / NOR in Isaiah 8:14 -- both Septuagints thus contradicting the Hebrew Bible.

This proves Paul knows the Septuagint is not inspired, and can reject it in favor Hebrew Bible. His purpose? To manipulate what his reader would think by picking and choosing versions that fit his argument goals. The second proof is Paul is quoting from Isaiah 28:16, and deletes even from both the Hebrew or Greek Septuagint (see video 20:13) that Jesus would be the "foundation" and a "precious cornerstone," twisting in its place Isaiah 8:13 that Jesus is a "stumbling stone and rock of offense" -- taken from Isai 8:14. This is wholly out of context, for Isaiah 8:14 was YHWH speaking about the Sanctuary was to leaders of Israel a "stone of stumbling and rock of offense" -- not Jesus. Paul is using Isaiah 8:14 to be about Jesus when it is a wholly unrelated context to a Jesus' prophecy -- and instead is about the the Assyrian Invasion of Isaiah's time. The "stumbling stone and rock of offense" likely meant the Two Stones at the Temple -- the Ten Commandments stored in the Sanctuary had been a stone of stumbling and rock of offense - the two stone tablets - because the people would not follow them. Now they are reaping the whirlwind in a conflict with Assyria..

This proves Paul is "totally manipulating words," and is a wrong beyond a simple Berean test of consistency, but instead demonstrates the lack of ethics in not only misquoting, but also radically modifying Isaiah 28:16, including removing parts he did not like for his purpose ("foundation" and "corner stone") and inserting instead a part from Isaiah 8:13 he liked from the Hebrew (rejecting the opposite language in the Greek Septuagint of Isaiah 8:13) to make Jesus the "stone of stumbling and rock of offense" in Isaiah 8:13 within a quote of Isaiah 28:16. (It is enough to make your head spin what he is up to.) This use of Isaiah 8:13 itself is also wholly out of context with its original context which was God talking about the Two Tablets in the Sanctuary during a war with Asyrria. (See video at 21:10-30.)

Paul by this tortuous path finds "faith alone" from Isaiah 28:16 but only in the Greek version, while Paul ignores the clear plan of salvation in Isaiah 55:6-7. There God says He extends mercy to those who repent from their evil ways which read the same as in the Greek Septuagint of 257 BC (as we show in the video). The ASV of Isaiah 55:6-7 reads:

6 "Seek ye Jehovah while he may be found; call ye upon him while he is near:

7 let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto Jehovah, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon." [Isaiah 55:6-7 ASV)

Paul thus picks from Isaiah verses that in the Greek Septuagint of Isaiah but not in the Hebrew that could support Faith Alone, while rejecting numerous verses opposed to faith alone in both the Greek or Hebrew that reject Faith Alone such as Isaiah 55:6-7.

Furthermore, Paul's use of Isaiah 8:13 in the Hebrew alone in Romans 9:33 proves Paul also knows when necessary at the same time to follow the Hebrew text. This conclusively proves he knows by experience from reading Isaiah 8:13 that the most reliable text is the Hebrew Isaiah, proving he only chooses the Greek Septuagint when contrary to the Hebrew original solely because it is helpful to make his point.

In other words, Romans 9:33 is a theological crime scene. "It is unequivocal now we are dealing with someone who will stoop to almost anything to make his point look valid, and it is completely invalid." (Video 23:27-38.)
