K Email April 13, 2013 -- Doesn't Teaching Make You A Teacher And Thus Violate Jesus' Words?

Are you teaching? Is your entire website a surrogate teacher?

You claim to be obeying Jesus' command that He is our sole teacher, and we should not call anyone else a teacher.

However, it lacks relevancy as to what label one wants to apply to oneself. If one proclaims reality is this but not that, that one is a teacher.

If you teach about Jesus regardless of the validity of Paul, are you not doing what you have accused Paul of having done?

Would not a man filled with the righteousness of the Creator's holy spirit merely give testimony along lines which proclaim, "This is what I believe," without suffering from self-delusional pretenses?

Would it not serve all much better to hint that thought dwelling on the words of Jesus rather than Paul or even any words from the Old Testament likely would be a prudent course?

My Reply April 14, 2013

K

I did not say that Jesus told us not to teach. Rather he told us not to call ourselves a teacher which in Hebrew was rabbi. This is a title of honor that makes people think something you say has more authority than anyone else. So if your point is to say that I am a teacher in the sense Jesus was talking about merely because I teach is incorrect. I'm not seeking any title of teacher, and thus I do not seek honor for myself. Everything on my website is 100 percent directed to people following Jesus' teaching, not my own. Thus I quote Jesus' command to call no one else teacher than him, and this means we make his teachings superior to all others. Even our own, which we should clearly identify has no superior validity because we claim some superior status as a "teacher." Doug
