Dispensational theology contends that Jesus' kingdom was rejected by the Jews, and he was killed.
This required supposedly that Jesus post-crucifixion to turn to plan #2 which had more chance of success. Since Jesus is not king yet (supposedly), Jesus needed to build a folllowing among Gentiles through Paul who would accept Jesus as king -- not now -- but when milennial kingdom begins.
Hence, we need only listen to Paul -- the sole custodan of the current plan in Jesus' mind yet not explained.
John 12:12-15 NIV 12 The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. 13 They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting,
“Hosanna! [Save]
“Blessed is the king of Israel!”
John 12:14-15 14 And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,
15 Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, your King comes, sitting on a donkey’s colt.
Luke 23:3 New American Standard / Weymouth / God’s Word
And Pilate asked Him, saying, “Are You the King of the Jews?” And He answered him and said, “It is as you say.” Gil’s Commentary: “and he answered him and said, thou sayest it; that is, thou sayest well; it is as thou sayest, I am the King of the Jews;
John 18:37 (a) New American Standard / Weymouth / God’s Word
Therefore Pilate said to Him: “Then You are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say correctly that I am a king.”
Gil’s Commentary: “Jesus answered, thou sayest that I am a king; and which was very rightly said; and Christ by these words owns and confesses, that he was one:
Luke 19:11-27
11 And as they heard these things, he added and spoke a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.
12 He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.
14 But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.
“Citizens” = members of his kingdom
15 And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom [i.e., made king before he returned], then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.
16 Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.
17 And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.
18 And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.
19 And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities.
20 And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin:
21 For I feared you, because you are an austere man: you take up that which you did not lay down, down, and reap that which you did not sow.
Conclusion on one with single coin:
1. PRODUCED NO WORKS TO BENEFIT THE KING
2. KNOWS IN TROUBLE. HIS DEFENSE IS KING HAD NO MORAL RIGHT TO REAP WHAT HE DID NOT SOW AND THUS UNFAIR TO EXPECT WORKS.
22 And he said to him, Out of your own mouth will I judge you, thou wicked servant. You knew that I was an austere man, taking up that which I did not lay down, and reaping that which I did not sow:
23 Why then did you not give my money to the bank, that at my coming I might have been returned mine own with [interest]?
24 And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.
25 (And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.)
26 For I say unto you, That unto every one which has shall be given; and from him that has not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.
Matt 25:30 [dropped from Luke, but otherwise identical in Matthew in 2 prior verses]
30 And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
Luke 19:27 [resume Lk] 27 But those mine enemies [from among his citizens], which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.
Compare Luke 12:45-46 ESV:
45 But if that servant [i.e., the good and faithful servant] says to himself, ‘My master is delayed in coming,’ and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and get drunk, 46 the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know, and will cut him in pieces and put him with the unfaithful [apiston, apistos vs. pistos]
John 12:48 KJV
He that rejects me, and receives not my words, has one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
