In Gen. 49 Jacob prophesies of Paul as Benjamite Wolf, and Jesus as "Shiloh" Messiah. Coincidence?

Jul 7, 2022

Video Description

There are conjoined prophecies of Jesus and Paul in Jacob's prophecies in Genesis 49:10-11 (messiah Shiloh) and Genesis 49:27 -- Benjamite ravening wolf.

Jesus invokes Gen. 49:27 almost verbatim in Matthew 7:15 when he warns us of "false prophets" who are "ravening wolves" whom we must be wary of who are in "sheep's clothing." Jesus is obviously invoking a prophecy of Gen. 49:27 of Jacob that in the latter days will come from Benjamin's tribe a "ravening wolf" who in the morning shall "murder" its prey, and the "evening divide the spoil" (shalal). But Jesus says this prophesied figure will appear as "ravening wolf in sheep's clothing." Jesus means the prophesied figure from Benjamin will say he is a Christian, but in God's eyes this is not true.

Remember the test of Deut 13:1-10 -- God allows false prophets to test us to see whether we love God with our whole, heart, mind and soul? The prophecy of Deut 49:27 is God's help for us to pass the test.

Jacob further prophesied that at the same general time of the Benjamite Ravening wolf shall come the Messiah called "Shiloh" (Peace) in Gen. 49:10-11 -- upon whose garments shall be the "blood of grapes" -- a dramatic prophecy of Jesus. The Jews in their Targums in the 1st Century AD said this was the Messiah. Likewise the Talmud said that Gen. 47: 10-11 was a prophesy of Messiah. ThisGenesis prophecy coincides with a suffering Messiah who has "blood of grapes on his garment."

We don't hear about this any more because if Christians focused too closely on Gen. 49, they would see Paul spoken negatively in prophecy.

The early church embraced Deut 49:27 was about Paul because they relied upon the Septuagint Greek mistranslation that rendered "shallal" (spoils) as "food" -- neutralizing the negativity of the wolf's behavior after it is described as a murderer in verse 27(a). Now that such Greek translation of the Septuagint has been replaced in our Bibles with translations from the Hebrew Bibles, and shallal is rendered as "spoils," it is clear the latter half of the Benjamite wolf's life is negative. We thus do not hear any more mention of this prophecy applying to Paul, and never thus are told about the Shiloh prophecy of Messiah with the "blood of grapes" on his garments.

The third place "ravening wolves" appears in prophecy is of an end time apostasy virtually indistinguishable from modern Christianity who have turned away from Christ's teachings: This is in Ezekiel 22:

Her priests have done violence to my law, and have profaned my holy things: they have made no distinction between the holy and the common, neither have they caused men to discern between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them. (Eze 22:26)(ASV)

Her princes in the midst thereof are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, that they may get dishonest gain. (Eze 22:27)

And her prophets have daubed for them with untempered mortar, seeing false visions, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, when Jehovah hath not spoken. (Eze 22:28)
