Why does Paul disobey God's multiple commands not to go to Jerusalem in Acts 21:4 & 10-11?

Jul 8, 2022

Video Description

Paul disobeys God's commands through multiple prophets in the spirit who "kept telling" Paul to "not go to Jerusalem" on trip that ends up in the Temple being defiled by Paul's companion, Trophimus. See Acts 21:4, 10-11.

This proves that indeed Trophimus did defile the temple, because God knew what would happen, and this is why God so strenuously sought to stop Paul.

So God strenuously reached out to reach Paul through others. Implicitly, God had no other avenue to reach Paul directly, i.e., Paul was not someone whom God or His Son could directly talk to. What else explains God's frustration to have to use multiple other persons?

Luke includes this story to win over pagans, because Paul's defiance of his God shows him as one willing to defy his God, and act as a demi-god. Paul is like a Homeric figure. This book of Acts was to be used as a resource for Theophilus to know the events at Jerusalem which would be the subject soon at Rome in a trial in front of Caesar. Hence, depicting Paul as a Homeric Titan who can stand up against God is admired by pagans. The book of Acts was not meant for Christians to admire Paul; it was solely written as a book to win the upcoming trial, addressed as it was to Theophilus, a Roman magistrate who was able help win an acquittal for Paul at upcoming trial on Paul's responsibility for Trophimus' defilment of the temple. See Acts 21.
