John's book of Revelation was prepared by John on the island of Patmos long prior to his preparing the Gospel of John with Papias' assistance. This means that John at the time of his Gospel had a long enough period to disavow the book of Revelation if it was not valid.
We review that Christian devout theologians --- Ernst Renan and Ezra Gould -- both saw Revelation ch. 2 as an anti-Paul attack. Mr. Gould dismissed the book of Revelation as apparently tampered with, despite no such evidence exists. Mr. Renan ascribed chapters 2 and 3 to Apostle John's hatred of Paul.
But the consequence of such thinking is that each of these gentleman have taken away in their hearts the validity of the book of Revelation. A curse is declared in Revelation ch.22 that anyone who removes a word of "this book" will have his place in the book of life removed. So this is not a reasonable course to take.
Instead, we must accept Jesus' challenge in Revelation to identify who is the false apostle, and who is it that said it was ok to eat meat sacrificed to idols. We will address those issues in the next video.
